These accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.

You can also:

  • phone us
  • email us
  • bring the paper form to the surgery, Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm

Collecting your prescription

You can usually collect your prescription from Davidson's Pharmacy in Ballater 3 to 5 working days after you have ordered it. They do offer a text alert service to let you know when prescriptions are ready to collect.

If you prefer your prescription to go to the pharmacy in Aboyne please make this clear when ordering.

You can use any NHS pharmacy in Scotland to collect your prescription however you will need to collect this from reception and physically take it to your chosen pharmacy.

We no longer post prescriptions out of area.

Our clinicians are not able to give you a prescription to collect outside of NHS Scotland.

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription:

  • fill in an eConsult
  • book an appointment with one of the GPs

Medication reviews

We review your medications at least annually.

If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a  review or we may manage to do this from your health record. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.

What to do with old medicines

Take it to any pharmacy for safe disposal.

Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

Empty medication foil and plastic packaging can be recycled just inside the front door of the practice. Unfortunately we cannot recycle dosette boxes.

About pharmacists

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Find a pharmacy (nhs24.scot)

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment. However we recommend calling the pharmacy to arrange a consultation as the pharmacist may not always be available.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
